Participant Privacy Notice

Who this notice is for

You are reading this because your employer, or an organization you belong to, enrolled you in the Grit Type Indicator™ and gave you an access code. This notice explains what Grit Global LLC collects when you take it, what we do with it, and who sees what.

This is a different document from the privacy policy that covers people who buy the Grit Type Indicator™ directly for themselves. That one deals with payment and purchase. This one does not, because you are not buying anything.

Who we are

Grit Global LLC is an Arizona limited liability company. We built and operate the Grit Type Indicator™. Your employer has engaged us to run it for your group and to deliver a session based on what it finds.

For the purposes of data protection law, your organization decides that the assessment will be run and who is invited. We process the results on their behalf and for the purpose described here, and for nothing else.

What we collect

• The access code your organization gave you. That is a label for a seat, not a name.
• Your answers to the assessment. That is a set of agreement ratings and a set of forced choices about how you operate at work, at home, and under pressure.
• Response quality signals the instrument records so it can tell a considered answer from a rushed one. That is how long you spent on items, whether you answered in long identical runs, and how often you changed an answer. These are used to flag a result as low confidence. They are not a measure of you.

What we do not collect

Your name. Your email address. Your phone number. Your job title. Your department. Your age. Anything about your race, religion, politics, health, sexual orientation or union membership.

This is not a promise about how carefully we handle those things. There is nowhere on any screen to enter them, nothing in the code that would store them, and no column in the spreadsheet they could sit in. We did not build the ability to know who you are.

Who sees what

This is the part that matters most, so it is spelled out.

• You see your full written profile on screen the moment you finish. There is a button to save it as a PDF. That copy is yours.
• Your leadership receives two things. The first is the pattern across the group, meaning how the types are distributed and what changes under pressure, with no individual named or identifiable. The second is the list of which access codes have finished, so they can chase the ones that have not. That list shows codes and completion only. It does not show results.
• Grit Global sees rows of answers labelled by access code. We cannot tell you which row is yours, because we do not know.
• Nobody else. We do not sell this, rent it, trade it, or hand it to anyone outside the engagement.

Your employer may know which code is yours

Be clear about this, because it is the one limit on the promise above. Your organization hands out the codes. If they wrote down who received which one, they could work backwards from the completion list to a person.

What they still could not do is see your result, because we never send individual results to anyone. But we cannot promise you something that is in their hands rather than ours, so we are not going to pretend otherwise. If it matters to you, ask them how the codes were assigned.

Nothing is emailed, and nothing can be recovered

Save the PDF when your profile appears. Once you close that page it is gone. We cannot send it to you again, because we hold no address to send it to and no way to work out which stored result was yours. That is the direct cost of not being identifiable, and we think it is worth paying.

Where it is kept

Results are stored in a Google Workspace account owned and controlled by Grit Global LLC. Each client organization has its own separate spreadsheet. One organization's results are never written into another organization's file.

Google acts as our infrastructure provider and holds the data at rest on our behalf under their terms.

Artificial intelligence

The Grit Type Indicator™ can include a short written interview. When that feature is switched on, the text of the exchange is sent to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude model, so it can be produced. Anthropic does not train models on it.

Some organizations ask us to run the assessment without it. When it is switched off, nothing you write or answer is sent to any outside service, and your profile is assembled entirely inside our own account.

If you want to know which setting is in force for your engagement, ask whoever gave you your code, or email us.

How long we keep it

We keep the coded results for the length of the engagement and for twenty four months afterwards. The reason for holding them that long is that a repeat assessment is only meaningful when it can be compared against the first one. After that we delete them.

Because the results are not personal data, holding them does not put you at risk. A row that says a code answered a certain way, with no way to connect that code to a human being, is a measurement rather than a record about a person.

Your rights, and why most of them do not apply here

Data protection law normally gives you the right to see what an organization holds about you, correct it, and have it deleted. Those rights attach to personal data, meaning data that identifies you.

We hold none. There is no record with your name on it, so there is nothing to show you, nothing to correct, and nothing we could find in order to delete it even if you asked us to and we wanted to help.

If you want your organization to stop using your code, or you want a different one, speak to them. If you believe we are holding something we have said here that we do not, write to us at support@gritglobal.com and we will answer honestly.

Whether you have to take it

That is a question for your employer, not for us. We do not know what they have told you and we have no say in it. If you are unsure, ask them.
